BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 features

The BlackBerry PlayBook is a tablet computer made by RIM. It is the first device to run BlackBerry Tablet OS, based on QNX Neutrino, and runs apps developed using Adobe AIR. It was later announced that the BlackBerry Tablet OS would be merged with the existing BlackBerry OS to produce a new operating system, BBX that would be used universally across RIM's product line.

Some of New BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 features, which first BlackBerry PlayBook does not having are -


Speed – New Playbook OS 2.0 has improved the speed of the user experience. Able to click on a little ‘x’ on the window, makes PlayBook browser faster.

Message Formatting - It was a little strange that you were not able to type in Bold on a Bold. But with new playbook OS 2.0 you can format your messages with bold, Italic etc.

BlackBerry Bridge Remote Control - The Remote Control feature with Bridge is amazing. The Remote feature not only allows you to watch video and play music from your TV but it also integrates with PowerPoint which turns your SmartPhone into PowerPoint clickers. Another feature of the Remote is using the BlackBerry keyboard. With this feature you can take the power of a BlackBerry keyboard to the PlayBook and bang-out emails at the higher speed.


Improved Keyboard - The new effective keyboard on the PlayBook has a new alphanumeric and symbols features on a single page so you can type in your testimonial without having to go back.

Social Integration - It’s great to see RIM’s execution of Gist in all the social native apps such as Messages, contacts and Calendar. If you enter a message and that user details in your Contacts list, it’s easy to see more information about that user. This feature also brings a new vibration into your inbox. Its allowing you to know more about the people you’re messaging.

Video Calling - Playbook OS has a much improved video calling apps which gives you higher standard video calling experience. You can see the online people and call them accordingly.

Folders - First playbook didn’t have folder feature and it didn’t get succeed in market. Now RIM launched OS playbook with folder feature. In new playbook Folders is welcomed feature. So now you can easily save games, news, locations, files, video etc. Now we didn’t have to wait for see the Productivity folder increase in size as RIM liberates advanced APIs for developers to make cool apps.
